The weekend before Memorial Day, Ian got a new bicycle! Thanks again to our friends Gary and Makiko, Ian got the bicycle that Alex outgrew. It's like new and Ian took it out for a spin for the first time Memorial Day weekend. He's got all the safety gear (helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist pads), so no need for Neosporin and Band-Aids so far. We were a little too optimistic about taking the training wheels off (we thought we'd give him a day). Ian is still getting used to the feel of the bicycle. He's pretty good at braking now, but we can't get him to look ahead instead of down at his feet. One step at a time...
Update 6/25/09: Added some more pictures to the album of Ian riding his bicycle. He is one cool kid with his sunglasses on!
Remember when you learned to ride a bike? Did you have a helmet? Or knee pads? Or elbow pads? Or wrist guards? We left off the wrist guards, but he had all the other gear on. He fell once or twice and there wasn't a scratch.
