NYC Marathon 2006

Andrea and Andy hosted a Marathon Party at their place on Sunday to watch the NYC Marathon. They have the perfect apartment for marathon viewing. They face First Avenue around the 18th or 19th mile, so it's right when a lot of runners need cheering. The TV cameras were set up just below their apartment. We got there a little bit late, so we missed all the elite runners and Lance Armstrong, but there were still a lot of people to cheer on. Ian really loved leaning out the window and clapping and cheering. Thank goodness Andrea & Andy's windows have deep ledges, but we held onto his shirt anyway. Francis and Zeynep came and Francis taught Ian to yell, "GO! GO! GO!" at the runners while pumping his fist. Ian pretty much did it non-stop for the rest of the afternoon. He only alternated it with turning to us and yelling, "Dey running! Dey running outside!" He never left the window and just kept leaning out and yelling. There were ambulances, police cars and fire trucks on the side streets, and towards the end of the afternoon, there were some coming down the avenue after the runners had gone by, so he was really excited. There was also a balloon arch up by New York Hospital, so he would yell, "Balloon!" every now and then as well. It was a great time and afterwards we went to Tia and Dennis' place -- Ian fell asleep in the stroller on the way over.
