Happy birthday, Wai-gong!
Can you believe Wai-gong is 70 today?!? Ian had another good day today. We were running a little late this morning and we got on the same train as a partner that I work with. John just became a first-time grandpa in September. You can tell he's a grandpa because he let Ian play with his cell phone and his Blackberry (which Ian promptly threw on the ground because it was in a leather case and therefore boring). Ian was very pleased with the cell phone. He kept turning it around and around in his hands, staring at it with a big smile on his face.
When we got to school, I figured out that Ian only pushes Leo. He tries to play with Leo the way that he plays with Alexander in the video because Leo is bigger than him. Ian doesn't try this with any of the other kids. Poor Leo usually gets knocked over by Ian and starts to cry.
Hera, Schuyler's mom, wore a jacket with a fur collar today and took it off and put it on one of the toys while she dropped off Schuyler's things. Ian was fascinated with it, as you can see: www.alanfeng.com/flora/2005-11-18-04.MOV. He couldn't resist touching it, even though he knew he wasn't supposed to.
In the evening, we had our first PTA meeting. Christina and Tiffany wanted to meet with the parents to go over some ground rules. They suggested that the boys be put in the other room so we could talk. Well, Ian and Luke were put down on the floor and they were fine. Then Leo and Schuyler were put down and immediately started crying. Ian looked around, all confused. He stared at the crying boys, then started to cry himself. It was sort of a fake cry. As soon as another teacher brought him some toys, he stopped. So he and Luke played quietly in the other room while the bigger boys wanted to be with their mommies. When I looked over at him at the end of the meeting, he was concentrating very hard on shaking a water bottle. With a million toys, Ian is completely mesmerized by a water bottle, so I guess we can save our money and just give him plastic bottles to play with (his favorite bath toy is an empty shampoo bottle).
He passed out on the train and woke up at 10:15 for a change and a half a bottle and immediately went back to sleep. Which means I need to go to bed now!
