My baby is all grown up!

Ian got on the big school bus today for his first day in kindergarten! More accurately, his first half-day. First full day will be tomorrow. Will post the pictures as soon as I can, but you should have seen him. He had on a bright yellow jacket (thank you, Alex McG!), as it cooled down considerably this morning, and had on his new "Ian" shoes (Stride Rite style name "Ian"), his new backpack with his name and a "soldier helicopter" stitched onto it (thank you, Wai Po!), with his new matching lunchbox inside. He was wearing his name tag, shaped like a giant red apple, displaying his homeroom teacher's name and his room number ("The same number as Johnny Damon."), and his bus pass was clipped to his backpack. He was anxious last night and this morning: "But who will go on the bus with me? You or Daddy?" But in true Ian fashion, he came through like a champ. He woke up when his alarm went off (Daddy got him a big boom box/alarm clock to play CDs as well), got dressed, brushed his teeth, ate his yogurt, picked out a jacket, and we got outside 10 minutes before the bus was scheduled to arrive. Of course, the bus was 20 minutes late, but whatever. Mommy, Daddy and Lia all waited with him. We debated whether he would have a big bus or a little bus, and we were happy to see that he got a BIG bus! The bus monitor couldn't have been nicer, which I think helped a lot. Ian climbed up the big steps all by himself without looking back. The bus monitor helped him into his seat and fastened his seat belt and my baby was gone.

I then had to go drop off Lia (will be updating her blog soon) and Jeff drove to Ian's school with all of the school supplies requested by the teachers. By the time Jeff got through all the school traffic, Ian was sitting in his classroom, jacket off, with his classmates.

I'm feeling a little verklempt this morning, what with both kids off to their new schools.
