Show Week at The Little Gym

As I desperately try to catch up, I am squeezing this in on the last day of June. June was pretty busy with Ian's show week at The Little Gym and his graduation at Bright Horizons, plus Father's Day, too. So one thing at a time, even if slightly out of order.

Ian's class at The Little Gym put on a show for their families on June 6. The kids entered the gym to the Olympic theme music, each one waving an American flag. Quite a sight to behold. Then the sat along the yellow wall, as they are instructed to do at each session, to wait for the coaches to tell them what to do next. Coaches Claudia, Krystina and Lawryn did a great job.

We were a little nervous that Ian would refuse to perform once we got there. He had been really excited up until the moment we left. But he went and lined up with his class and marched in waving his flag with a big grin on his face. The first thing the kids had to do was sit in a circle, then each one stood up and said his/her name and performed his/her favorite trick. Ian chose the donkey kick (as did most of the kids).

Then they did their circle activities:

The kids showed off their tricks on the mat and on individual pieces of equipment.

This is how the kids go to each station... they form a train, of course!

At the end, each kid stepped up to the podium to receive a gold medal!

Then they all got up and took some group photos:

(I don't know where that awful screaming in the background was coming from. Must be the child of some terrible parents.)

My favorite was the scary faces (known in our family as dinosaur faces):

I am so pleased with how well Ian has done at the gym. Maybe it would have happened anyway as he matured, but he seems to have more confidence in group settings and isn't as shy about getting up in front of other people. He really loves going to class and looks forward to it every week. Hooray for The Little Gym and all the great coaches!
