Taiwan pictures

I'm still sorting and organizing our pictures, but I decided that if I wait until I'm done to post anything, it'll be sometime in July before anything gets posted!

We are so glad that we were able to spend time in Taipei with my family and it was the ultimate "making lemonade out of lemons" scenario. Heck, you can never take 6 weeks of vacation, so being in-between jobs really worked out for the best!

This is how the kids greeted Wai Gong the first night we arrived:

Wai Gong couldn't stop smiling!

And Jiu Ma gave Ian a brand new book about... I'll give you one guess... yup, dinosaurs! We highly recommend When Dinosaurs Came With Everything! Or as Ian would say When Dinosaurs Came Home With Everything.

Apparently, Cousin Max is also crazy about dinosaurs -- check out his hat!

We went to Lao Wai Po's for dinner that first week and got to see Jiu Gong. The babies fell asleep, so Ian got to be the only kid in the family photo:

And Ian got to play mah jong with Lao Wai Po:

We went to visit Lao Nai Nai and Ian made her so happy by giving her hugs and kisses:

One of the best things about being in Taipei this time was lots of quality time with Jiu Ma and Max Baby!

Ian got pretty lazy while we were in Taipei and would insist on sitting in the stroller (which we brought for Lia). The sidewalks in Taipei aren't exactly stroller-friendly, but we managed. When we went to the street market on New Year's Eve, he insisted on not only sitting in the stroller, but pulling the plastic down to hide his face:

He was pretty happy when we found a vendor selling "sea creatures" snack crackers, which were very similar to the dolphin crackers he gets at school (which are all suspiciously similar to Goldfish crackers). He was content to wait on a corner with Wai Po and eat his crackers while Jeff, Alan, Lia and I walked around:

That night, he and the other kids totally raked in the red envelopes. Xiao Gong (Wai Gong's youngest brother) brought Lao Nai Nai to dinner and gave Ian his red envelope:

Celebrating Chinese New Year in Taiwan is fun!
