Catching up...

OK, finally... Our California pictures are finally uploaded. We had so much fun with Jiu Jiu, Jiu Ma, Wai Gong and Wai Po, and it would have been more fun had I been feeling better. But the nausea and the heartburn were really awful and I spent a lot of time sleeping or lying down. XW had made all these great plans and I couldn't participate in some of them because I was feeling so miserable. But we did manage to go to NASA's Ames Research Center (formerly Space Camp) and see the inside of a space shuttle. Here's Ian as an astronaut:

Ian had fun at the park with Jiu Jiu's Hawaiian football and he could take his shoes off and run around in the sand. The Wang-Fengs hosted a BBQ on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and we got to see Wes and Gillian (and check out their gorgeous wedding album), Kong-lin, Jake and Brady (too bad Art had to be in L.A. for business). Brady is 2 months older than Ian and they have very similar laid-back personalities, although Brady is more fearless (I don't think he has a choice being a younger brother). Here are the two little bruisers:

We drove up to Half Moon Bay the next day, which was unfortunately my worst day. Mei-Mei Yi and Atlas joined us for the trip. Atlas had a great time tearing up and down the beach and even after we got home Ian said, "Go3-go3 pao3 pao3 pao3. Go3-go3 you2 yong3." ("The dog was running running running. The dog was swimming.") For those of you who have never met Atlas, he is a huge pit bull who loves running on the beach. It was pretty chilly at the shore, so Wai Po put her sweater on Ian, to which he said, "Tai4 da4!" ("Too big!")

On Memorial Day, we went to a park nearby in Mountain View. There was a man-made lake with all sorts of water sports. Ian picked out a pair of sunglasses for himself at the shop. Too cool!

He had to put on his life jacket before going on the paddle boat with Daddy, Jiu Jiu and Wai Po:

He was pretty tired, but he didn't fall asleep until the end of the ride and then he held on so tight to the boat that he woke up when Daddy pried his fingers off it and got very upset about getting off the boat.

We had a great time and we miss hanging out with Jiu Jiu and Jiu Ma! We played with the Wii (even Ian) and relaxed and just spent time together, which is so hard to do living on opposite coasts.

Finally, here's a good picture with Wai Gong and Wai Po:
