Poor Daddy worked really hard yesterday cleaning up the mess in the basement while I kept an eye on Ian and cleaned whatever Jeff salvaged from the basement. We honestly didn't think the water would get that high.
But everything has to be taken in perspective. That horrible massacre at Virginia Tech really was tragic. Thank goodness Coach wasn't on campus yet and was warned by Xiao-Wei in time so he didn't go to work. And there are other people in the area who have been completely displaced and their homes and/or businesses are completely destroyed. We should consider ourselves lucky -- everything we "lost" is replaceable.
We did have to go to the Lins' house for Jeff to take a shower last night, but Ian enjoyed seeing the kids and didn't want to leave. And other friends have called to offer any help we might need. It's great having such good friends nearby. Once we get the hot water back, we'll be good to go. And I'll be ordering a new washing machine this week...
