Ian went back to school this morning. His pink eye is much better -- no more oozy stuff and it's just slightly pink. It doesn't seem to bother him. He spent the day with Daddy yesterday and was just fine -- he took a 3 hour nap! Jeff said that during the day he coughed and Ian said to him, "Bless you, Daddy." Hee hee! We went out for dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant and the waiter brought Ian a plastic cup with dinosaurs on it ("One, two, FREE dino!") and it had a lid and a straw. We've never given Ian a straw, so we were surprised when he started to sip his water. I guess he can now use a straw! Ian chewed on his straw and enjoyed pulling it out and putting it back into the cup. Jeff gave Ian the straw from his drink and Ian played with it and then laid down next to his straw and said, "Dos!" (He always says two in Spanish if he's telling you that there are two things, like "Dos avi!", but he will count in English or Spanish.) He really gets the concept of the number two. He ate pretty well, and at the end of dinner, he sang the Barney song for us ("I love you, you love me, we're a happy family, with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me, too?").
Unfortunately, Ian did not sleep well last night (poor Jeff got up a couple of times). He wound up sleeping with us from about 4:45-7:00 this morning. We are not going to make his a regular thing, but I think we both felt bad because he had the pink eye and we were too tired to do anything else.
On the way to school this morning, he was a little cranky and he was whining for nai-nai. When I didn't give it to him (because I was driving and because he just had one before we left the house), he changed his request to "Bottle?" He was mad because I didn't give it to him, so he was crying and whining, but as soon as a school bus drove past us, he interrupted his crying to say, "Bee bus!" (which means big bus) and then went back to crying. That's his latest obsession -- buses. School buses, city buses, mini-buses. He also calls any truck or large SUV "bus". Fire engines are buses, too.
Once we got to school, he was a happy guy. He walked into school and went to his classroom door and said, "Jenn?" But everybody was in the other classroom, so we went down there and Ian went right in and started doing a puzzle with his friend Taylor. She is always so sweet to Ian and offers him whatever toy she is playing with.
