Ian sang and talked the whole way home yesterday. He suddenly looked older to me. He was singing "Happy Birthday" and when he finished, he said, "Again!" and started singing again. Then he changed the words to sing, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy". He was saying all the words in his vocabulary, chanting Ana's name, then the word "avi", then Daddy. But he had a little meltdown when we got home because I wouldn't give him his soy chips or let him watch Lola until he washed his hands. He screamed for a while. I just left him there in the family room until he got through it. Then he calmed down and he had some soy chips, steak and grapes for dinner. (He calls all meat "chicken", so when I asked if he wanted steak, he said no, but then he saw it and went scrambling to climb into his chair.)
This morning, he was in a great mood and when we got to school, he greeted Jenn with a happy, "Jenn! Jenn! Jenn!" and then we went to the Moonbeams classroom to hang out with Miss Karen until Jenn got the Butterflies' classroom ready. Ian loves Karen, too. Karen always give him his favorite puzzle, which has construction vehicles and helicopters. So he sat down to play with his puzzle, turned and gave me a kiss and said, "Bye, Mommy." Dismissed.
