Ian has had a great week with Abuelita. He was a bit reluctant on Monday morning when I left, but on Tuesday morning, he didn't even look up at me when I left. When he hears Abuelita's voice now, he grins from ear to ear. Jeff was in Trinidad from Monday morning until Thursday afternoon. Ian definitely missed Daddy. On Thursday morning, when he heard a door opening, he looked up at me from coloring (his new favorite activity) and smiled and said, "Daddy!" When Jeff got home that afternoon, Ian apparently was overjoyed and ran to him, practically shaking with happiness.

Ian has been running poor Abuelita ragged going to the park 3 or 4 times a day. He walks all the way to the park and back by himself now. Sometimes he pushes his little green car and sometimes he rides on it. I took him to the park today and he has progressed so much this week. He now climbs up the steps on the jungle gym standing up, holding on to the handrail. He can also walk across the suspension bridge (he reaches for my hand for the first step down, but then pulls away and wants to do it himself). There's a dog that lives at the house next to the park entrance and he barks very loudly. Ian froze in his tracks once we got into the park and he looked apprehensively at the fence and said, "Wo-wo-wo!" He refused to budge and wanted me to carry him.

He can also walk up the stairs at home by himself holding onto the railing. He has become very adept at pulling off the caps of his magic markers and just loves coloring. He knows that you have to take the cap off of a pen.

What really freaked me out was when on Sunday, Abuelita asked whether Ian still likes to sit under the kitchen table and I said that he hadn't done it in a long time. He looked at us and went to his high chair and crawled underneath it and smiled at us. Then he crawled under the kitchen table and sat there for a minute, smiling at us. He understands waaaaay too much!

On Thursday, we went to his new school to register and meet his teachers. Jeff hadn't seen it before, so he rushed over after getting home from Trinidad and Abuelita and Ian came, too. Ian felt comfortable right away. There were three children in the classroom, all 2 or 3 years old. Ian immediately went up to the 3 year old boy, who was very friendly and gave Ian some toys. So the three of us went to see the rest of the school while Ian played with the boy and Ian didn't even notice that we were gone. When we came back and said we were leaving, he shook his head vehemently. I'm not worried at all about him adjusting to the new school!
